Our beloved Maja Bertilsson left this earth on December 28, 2021. Maja was dedicated to the children and was headed to Kenya with her parents on the day of her tragic death. Maja is survived by her parents (Ronny and Anna Bertilsson) and her beloved sister Amanda.
This year Kenneth, Beatrice, Mama Joyce made an unplanned trip to spend Christmas with the children. Because of COVID-19 our journey was a long one but definitely well worth it. Here in Kenya this time of year lacks the the constant hub-bub and the urgency to buy gifts.
This young boy was placed in Jeremiah's Children's Home after being estranged from his family and forced into child labor. After almost a year our overseer felt there was more to this boy's story and pressed the Narok County Social Services officer to do some digging. The end result is that his family was located some distance away.
In 2017 a group of Swedish missionaries came to Narok, Kenya looking for a place to serve. The local social services office directed them to Jeremiah's Children's Home where they served for nine months. They return every year at Christmas to celebrate with the children and help with the purchase of school uniforms and supplies.
In the summer of 2018, 12 short-term missionairies visited Jeremiah's Children's Home to share God's love with the children.
Jeremiah's Children's Home was established in 2016 as a registered Community Based Organization in Narok County, Kenya. Today, Jeremiah's Children's Home serves 40+ children between the ages of 6months -to -16 years old, that have been placed there by the social services office because of early girlchild marriage, abandonment, neglect, and orphanhood. Because of its commitment to loving these children with clothing, food, education, medical care, and Jesus's love, Jeremiah's Children's Home has become part of the community and is recognized for its excellence by the Narok County Social Services Office.
