Mama Joyce’s youngest son, Jeremiah, would often help the neighborhood children with their reading and also played soccer with them. Then at the end of the day, Mama Joyce and Jerry would invite them to stay for dinner.  Soon Mama Joyce's home became their second home and a place of refuge.

In 2010, Jerry was killed suddenly in a hit-and-run accident while crossing the street in Nairobi, Kenya.  To fill the void in Mama Joyce's heart God soon sent the very same childrenAlways one with a kind and compassionate heart Mama Joyce began feeding the children for regular meals despite being a widow with no income.  In no time at all more and more hungry and needy children began to come.

Then at the beginning of 2016, Kenneth and Beatrice received a call from her saying the Social Services officer said she had to get housing for the children if she wanted to continue caring for them. Kenneth and Beatrice prayed and decided it was time to go to Kenya and set things right. That summer, Kenneth and Beatrice traveled to Kenya to officially establish a Community Based Organization with the government, rent housing for the children, hire workers, and find schooling
